I’ve been spending a lot of time pushing for donations for “Legend of Black Lotus” and money is still trickling in via drips and drops at http://www.indiegogo.com/blacklotus. This crowdfunding thing is a difficult pill to swallow. It’s a little disheartening.
First, you come to quickly find out who your real friends and supporters are. People who were there when you were up are not there now. They know who they are, and they know you know who they are. But they linger in the shadows watching. Probably hoping for your failure but ready to pounce on your success. Time will bring them out of the shadows. It sucks, but I guess that’s people…and life.
What’s really interesting is that there are some amazingly HUGE things going on behind the scenes with Black Lotus. Things so big that I dropped all my other projects. I wonder what those people will say and do when things start popping off. Hmmm
Second, you understand first-hand how the economy can suck the life out of creative endeavors because people who truly want to give, cannot afford to give.
So I’m expanding my horizons. It’s not enough to build an audience, but one must build a loyal following of supporters of the work. I’ve made quite a few films over the past decade and my work is easily seen — if you know where to so. So my efforts have been about creating a showcase.
Until then, if this blog has entertained you, educated you or made you laugh, please consider a donation. There are some cool perks in exchange for your support for “Legend of Black Lotus”
