1001 Positively True Stories of An Indie Filmmaker

Angelo Bell's Painfully Exhilarating Adventures in Independent Filmmaking

Shadowkeeper

Shadowkeeper is a sci-fi- horror thriller film in the vein of The Thing and 28 Days Later.  Shadowkeeper is an old school sci-fi horror web series, like the kind of movie John Carpenter used to make.

The apocalypse is here, and it’s not  in the form of man-made viruses, meteors, floods or even aliens. It’s our shadows, and unfortunately only one man can stop them — but he’s afraid of the dark.

In Shadowkeeper, the end of the world is near — and no one knows! The end doesn’t come in the form of a giant meteor plummeting towards Earth; there’s no man-made virus on the loose, and we aren’t under attack by zombies or aliens. A portal has been opened to another dimension and soon our very own shadows will bring up to a grotesque and grisly demise. But Brett, an astronomer and college professor on the brink of a great discovery senses the impending doom, and it all starts with him. People around Brett are mysteriously murdered, their bodies mutilated beyond recognition, and he becomes the focus of the police’s investigation.

When Lauryn, the local barister at Starbucks enters his and claims to have psychic  information about Brett’s connection to the end of the world, the situation escalates. With two police officers murdered and the cops hot on their heels, Lauryn guides Brett on a painful journey of self-discovery, uncovering his connection to a demonic supernatural cult. In the end, they realize Brett is the key and only one who can end the pending apocalypse.  Lauryn and Brett must elude the police and a detective’s dogged pursuit of them long enough to stop the end of the world.  But there’s one problem, Brett is dreadfully afraid of the dark (nyctophobic) and they soon learn that it is when Brett is in darkness, and there are no shadows, that evil is most powerful.

A sci-fi horror web series, coming June 2010.

Nyctophobia is a limiting and disabling disease characterized by a frenzied fear of the darkness. It is triggered by the mind’s disfigured perception of what would or could happen when in a dark environment.
